It was without a doubt, Maggie's least favorite day.

Mother's Day wasn't far behind it but she only had vague memories of her mother. She'd been six when the woman had dropped back out of The Folly. Long enough for Maggie to remember her, but not long enough for anything to remain in her mind beyond little shadows in her mind.

Her father's exit. That she remembered clearly, considering she'd been the one that found him when the last of his attempts to bring her back to the Folly had failed. Magic drained after five years of these attempts, he'd been unable to fight the depression, unable to see anything beyond the loss of the love of his life.

Unable to see the daughter he'd be leaving behind.

She'd seen first hand what magical exhaustion did now that she was fully in her magic now. When she'd been eleven and sent to her foster home, it hadn't been as easy to see at all. She still hated him for leaving, still wished she'd been enough to keep him from giving up, but now, she was a little more accepting of it all.

When she saw a vaguely familiar woman at his gravesite, it took everything she had not to pull the earth, wind and water to her to blast the woman, and the trash around the headstone, into the forest so deep even Bella wouldn't be able to find her.

"Excuse me, but who are you?"

I hum happily as I kiss her, sort of a growl and sort of a purr. The feel of her lips on mine and her body pressed against me is distracting. In a good way though, powerful enough for me to ignore all my instincts and training and just lose myself in her.

"Why would I want to look anywhere else?" I ask her, reaching up to her the hands on my face with my own.

She was glad of that focus, even as the words he said warmed her until her insides felt like they'd been liquified. She breathed again when she felt the grass under her feet again. "You can look away now if you want to," Maggie smiled, "but I have to say, I'm perfectly happy with the view I have from here, too."

Maggie usually stayed at the cemetary most of the day, talking to a piece of stone about the town, what had happened in the past year, problem DIs and even what Levi was up to. Just now, she felt no more reason to stay. This was stone and grass. Her father wasn't here anymore. His spirit had moved on and it was time for her to do the same. "Want to get out of here?"

[everywere]

"Don't want to look away," I say as I smile and kiss her softly again. I feel ridiculous, feeling like this about her, but I don't care. Something this good can't be bad and how I feel about her is amazing. Part of me realizes that eventually we'll probably find something about each other that is annoying, that it won't always seem perfect, but I can't imagine loving her less for it.

"And yeah, I do."

Maggie pushed herself to standing, skirt settling easily around her legs. Standing, tiny as she is, she doesn't have to look down far to look into his eyes. Her smile was nearly as bright as the sun overhead as her hands reached out for his.

"Want to walk me home?" she asked, paused, then put a bit of a wicked twinkle in her eye. "Or chase me home?"

"Maybe you should chase me home," I say, taking her hands and standing up, smiling down at her once I'm over her. It's strange how sometimes I forget how strong she is because she's so small and sometimes I forget how small she is because she's so strong. Either way though, she's just the right size.

"Me? Chase you?" Maggie asked, cocking her head to the side. "I think you have the slight advantage there given that I don't know where you live and your legs are about twice the size of mine."

Today had started with a heavy heart and dark clouds following behind her. Now, all she could so was smile, and feel like skipping for the first time since she was ten years old.

"How about I lead you to where I live?" I ask. It seems like a decent way to show her where I live. A fun way. "Or I can just grow big enough for you to ride on my back."

That might be a sight to see, Maggie riding on the back of a giant puma or wolf through the town. Now that I think about it, I kind of hope she picks that option.

"Maybe, um, maybe I can gather up what little I have an take it over to your place?"

Maggie, hands to her mouth and giggling over the idea of riding Jack the other way, stopped in mid-laugh. Even her feet stopped moving as she looked up at into his face, his eyes.

"You mean...move into the house with me? Permanently?"

[everywere]

"If you want," I tell her. I know that's a big step, maybe too big of a step, but I hate the idea of leaving her some nights. If we lived in the same place then that wouldn't happen. The idea of always coming home to where she is appeals to me.

I just hope I'm not scaring her away. Her heart is pounding but I'm not sure if it's fear or excitement or both.

Maggie had to work to get her breathing under control and even then it only worked until she launched herself, literally, into his arms. "No more nights when you're not there and I wish desperately you were right next to me? No more mornings you're not there to tell me I'm not making the bacon crispy enough?"

Her sunshine smile was back, just as the lingering clouds overhead broke away entirely and their section of the cemetery was bathed in sunlight.

"I'll take that as a yes?" I say, wrapping my arms around her to hold her close. She feels like she hardly weighs anything at all though, even more than usual, like she's floating.

"Unless you're so upset that you're attacking me."

[irishcoffee]

"It's very definitely a yes," Maggie laughed, wrapping her legs around his waist and threading a hand up over the back of his head. "Though there very well may be attacking of some sort later."

[everywere]

I give a happy growl as she slips a hand up the back of my head and lean forward to nuzzle her, taking comfort in how close she is and how tightly she's clinging to me. This is all so fast, recklessly so, but it feels right. I might regret it later, but I kind of doubt it.

"I think I can live with that."

With a kiss to the spot just under his ear, Maggie released her clinging hold and slid back to the ground. An innocent little smile turned the corners of her mouth up, contrasting with the devilish twinkle in her eye.

"I can have one of the spare bedrooms made up for you in no time. Just think. We'll be roommates now."

Then she darted...just out of reach.

[everywere]

I growl, more at her darting away than anything, the animal instincts screaming at me to chase her. I like how playful and mischievous she is. It certainly keeps things interesting and I don't think I'll ever find her boring.

"Then it would be okay if I invited my wife to move in with me?"

Maggie's playful darting stopped mid-skip and she turned back to look at him. Her face was utterly blank of any emotion, same with her voice when she spoke.

"Wife, huh? That'd depend on what she's like."

[everywere]

"You're awful," I growl, taking advantage of her having stopped to leap forward and grab her around the waist and throw her over my shoulder.

"I'm going to have to punish you when we're home."

"You started it," Maggie said, then squeaked when he tossed her onto his shoulder like a bag of flour. "Hey! Put me down!" Her little hands beat at his back with probably as much force as wet noodles.

"Watch the skirt. I'd rather not flash my bare ass to the whole town."

[everywere]

"Don't worry, I'm constantly aware of your ass and how much of it was visible," he said, patting said ass as he made double sure that her skirt was tucked between his body and hers in a way that she wouldn't flash anyone. That was one of the things he liked about her... she never wore anything under her skirts.

"Are you?" Maggie giggled and kept hitting against his back but there was no sign she was in any hurry to leave where she was. She also knew that he knew that she could remove himself from where she was at any time. "And what does that mean, exactly, that you're always aware of how visible my ass is?"

[everywere]

"It means I pay a lot of attention to your ass," I tell her as I start heading out of the cemetery. This sort of thing is probably frowned on in a place that's generally supposed to be about being respectful and mourning. Besides, my place is in the general direction of the entrance to the cemetery.

Maggie warmed to the tips of her toes, which wiggled slightly with the sensation, then shivered as an idea formed. "So what you're saying is that if I ever walking along the street and felt you close..." She paused, just a second, for emphasis, "And I called a little air current to lift my skirt and flash you a peek, that you would...?"

She was baiting him, she knew it. She also didn't think he minded.

[everywere]

"Be very jealous if anyone else got a look," I growl. I know jealousy and possessiveness isn't an attractive trait but I can't help it. I don't think I'd want to help it if I could. I like that we belong to each other.

Maggie decided then that she wouldn't be going through a lot of disclosure about her past and just how many people in the Folly had been up close and personal with her ass and didn't need that look.

"That's it? Just jealous of anyone else seeing?"

[everywere]

"And excited," I add, my voice a low rumble as I shifted my position to give said ass a firm squeeze. It was a very fantastic ass and I was glad to be personally acquainted with it so well. Now I was really getting excited thinking about it.
